Welcome to the Science City Research Alliance
The Governments aspirations on UK research has led to an exciting new large-scale initiative; encouraging an increase in internationally leading research in the West Midlands that will drive a vibrant knowledge-led economy and deliver new models of partnership with the industrial base. The West Midlands Regional Development Agency, Advantage West Midlands (AWM), is funding joint equipment and research infrastructure at the Universities of Birmingham and Warwick to a likely value of £80M.
The Science City Research Alliance (SCRA)
To complement this significant capital investment by AWM the partner universities of Birmingham and Warwick have been successful in securing a significant financial award (£9.6M) from the Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE) Strategic Development Fund (SDF) to establish the Science City Alliance. The funding is being used to create the new role of Director of the Alliance and up to 25 Research Fellowships. All positions will be hosted by one of the two universities with an honorary appointment at the other.
